We park in the large parking lot of domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire. This parking lot is equipped with toilets. The domain has a beautiful castle, old horse stables, 32 acres of parks, 30 gardens and 55 installations and exhibitions of modern art. More info about this domain can be found on their website. We walk through the impressive domain, towards the river ‘La Loire’. Cross the Rue de Bellevue and there you see space enough to quietly prepare your packraft equipment. Inflate your packraft with the accompanying bladder bag and then blow the last of the air with your mouth. Assemble your paddle and put on your life jacket. When you have put your dry stuff in the dry bag, we can properly attach the packraft to the raft. For this you use the tension strap. Check that you leave nothing behind on the grass and then you are ready to go on a mission. Relaxed, we paddle through nature, past all the little islands and sand banks. Do you see the cormorants, seagulls, herons and terns? From 8.5 km we will paddle to the left bank. There you can moor on the little beach. We stow our packraft equipment again. Haven’t we forgotten anything? Then we start the second part of our packraft adventure: the hike! We walk the first 3 km along the water. We pass through a small village called “Rilly-sur-Loire” (14km). From there we walk through fields and forests back to domaine de Chaumont-sur-Loire. Our mission is accomplished!
